Jingisukan
Jingisukan is a popular dish in Japan named after the Mongolian emperor Genghis Khan. It is a type of mutton hotpot that is usually cooked and served tableside on a dome-shaped griddle .
material:
• 1 pound of mutton sliced into bite size pieces
• 1 head of minced garlic
• 1 onion, thinly sliced
• 2 carrots, thinly sliced
• 2 sliced green peppers
1 cup sprouts
1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 1 glass of sake
• 1 cup soy sauce
1 cup mirin
• 1 cup of sugar
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions:
1. Put sake, soy sauce, mirin and sugar in a small pot and mix. Place over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a large pot or wok over medium heat. Add the garlic and onions and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
3. Add carrots and bell peppers to the pot and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
4. Add the bean sprouts and mushrooms to the pan and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
5. Add the sliced mutton to the pan and fry until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes.
6. Pour sake over the mutton and vegetables and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer ingredients for about 10 minutes or until mutton is fully cooked and sauce thickens.
7. Enjoy hot Genghis Khan as a side dish with rice or as a hot pot on the dome-shaped iron plate.
You can make Genghis Khan for 4-6 people with this recipe. Adjust the amount of sugar and soy sauce according to your taste. If you prefer a sweeter or saltier soup, add more sugar or soy sauce as needed.
It's a perfect dish for those who want to eat warm and full on a cold day!
