焼きうどん / Yaki-udon
Yakiudon is a popular Japanese stir-fried noodle dish made with udon noodles, vegetables, and protein. It is cooked in a rich and flavorful sauce.
Material:
• 8 oz udon noodles
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 sliced onion
• 2 sliced carrots
• 2 sliced green peppers
1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 1 cup chopped cabbage
• 2 cloves of minced garlic
1 lb of protein of your choice (chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, etc.)
• 1/2 cup soy sauce
• 1/4 cup sake
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 2 tablespoons of water
Instructions:
1. Boil the udon to al dente according to the directions on the packet. Drain and set aside.
2. Mix soy sauce, sake, sugar, cornstarch and water in a small bowl. set aside.
3. Heat the oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the onions, carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms and cabbage and sauté until tender, 2-3 minutes.
4. Add your favorite garlic and protein to the skillet and sauté until the protein is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
5. Put the boiled udon noodles into the pot and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until they get entangled well.
6. Coat the udon with the sauce and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the noodles are evenly entwined.
7. Serve the yaki-udon hot and add green onions and sesame seeds if you like.
This recipe makes 4 servings of fried udon noodles.
Adjust the amount of sugar and soy sauce according to your taste. If you prefer a sweet and salty sauce, add sugar or soy sauce as needed. Yakiudon is a quick and easy dish that's perfect for a weeknight meal or a delicious way to use up leftovers. fun!
