串揚げ / Kushiage

Kushiage is a Japanese dish of bite-sized ingredients coated in batter and deep-fried until crispy.

material:


• 1 cup all-purpose flour


• 1 cup cornstarch


• 2 teaspoons baking powder


• 1 cup cold water


• Salt and pepper to taste


• Vegetable oil for frying


• Skewers


• Ingredient selection (chicken, beef, vegetables, seafood, etc.)


• Tonkatsu sauce, for dipping



Instructions:


1. Put flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix to make dough.


2. Add cold water little by little to the bowl and whisk until the dough is smooth.


3. Cut the ingredients into small pieces and skewer them.



4. Heat a large saucepan with vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should reach about 350°F.


5. Dip the skewered ingredients into the batter and coat evenly.


6. Carefully place the buttered ingredients into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.


7. Remove the deep-fried skewers from the oil and drain with a paper towel to remove excess oil.


8. Eat hot with tonkatsu sauce.
